Removing Window Tint
There will be times when a person must get rid of window tinting on his or her car. The process of removing window tint is not easy, but it can be a required step, especially if the law about window tinting changes. The problem with removing window tint is that the tint itself has two layers, and removing one layer can leave the other one intact. There is a trick to removing both layers of window tint at once. The first step is to get rid of any obstructions to the window. Then take a plastic bag and lay it over the window. Next, ammonia must be sprayed on the interior side of the window, and the window must be left in the sun for an hour or so. Then a person can peel off the window tint, hopefully in one go. Cleaning the window is the last step in removing window tint, after the actual tint has been removed.
A tinted window usually has two layers of the tinting material, and it is hard to get these layers off. A large plastic bag must be cut to the size and shape of the window then put over the window. After getting the bag on the window, the next step in removing window tint is to spray ammonia on the interior of the window, which helps loosen the tinting material.
After the ammonia is sprayed, the window must be left in the sun for an hour or so. Once it has been cooking in the sun, the ammonia will have weakened the window tint, allowing a person to peel it off. The best removal of window tint will be to peel it off in one pull, but there are times when the ammonia is too dry. This will cause the glue to harden. In case this happens, more ammonia must be sprayed in the area to loosen the glue again.
The final step in removing window tint is to clean the windows. Some window cleaner and paper towels are all that is needed to do this step. After the window is cleaned, the glass should be inspected for any missed glue that may have been left after the removal of the tinting material.
The whole process of removing window tint is simple, yet it can be difficult to do properly. Ammonia is used to help loosen the glue that is holding the tint to the window. A person should be able to peel the tinting off in one go, but there are times when it becomes stubborn. The only thing to do then is to apply a little more ammonia to loosen it up a bit.
